NURS 364 - Adult-Gerontology Health Nursing I Credits: 5 When Offered: Fall, Spring Prerequisite(s): NURS 222 , NURS 244 , and NURS 256 ; ENGL 101 , ENGL 102 and COMM 105 or ENGL 101H and ENGL 102 with a minimum grade of “C.” Corequisite(s): NURS 320 , NURS 341 , NURS 354 .
This course focuses on the nursing knowledge, skills, and values necessary for providing safe, competent, and humanistic care for adult and older adult clients. Using a nursing process framework, course content will focus on selected topics on pain, perioperative care, diabetes, fluid and electrolyte balance, and the pulmonary, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and neurological systems. Students will apply critical thinking skills as they examine socio-cultural diversity and holistic, caring practices in acute and chronic medical-surgical and rehabilitative nursing. Three credit hours of theory, 2 credits clinical, 8 hours per week.
