I. Political Studies Core Requirements (33 Credits)


II. Honors College Track Selection (Track 1 or 2)


Hnors College curriculum must conform to one of the following applicable tracks (Track 1 or Track 2): 

A. Honors College Core Track 1


(General Education Requirement Equivalent)

i. Requirements (26 Credits)


ii. Honors Leadership and Service (6 Credits)


iii. Honors Interdisciplinary Courses (25-29 Credits)


Honors students need to take seven Honors elective courses and produce a capstone thesis, for a total of eight courses. Courses can be cross-listed in multiple subjects, and for both lower and upper division credit, as needed.

At least six credit hours of designated “learning-on-location” courses are required. These would include courses focused on resources in Washington, D.C., in the United Kingdom, study tours, or Adventist Colleges Abroad language programs.

Honors courses not listed with prefix HNRS are denoted with an “H” at the end of the course number. For example, a regular RELT Topics course would be listed as RELT 294, whereas an Honors RELT Topics course would be listed as RELT 294H.

Students do not need to take an Honors elective in the area of their selected major.

  • Honors interdisciplinary History Credits: 3
  • Honors interdisciplinary Literature Credits: 3
  • Credits: 3
  • Additional Honors Interdisciplinary electives Credits: 3-7

iv. Required Cognate (0-12 Credits)


  • Intermediate level foreign language Credits: 0-12
    Note: Minimum grade of “C” required. NOTE: Competency based. May have requirement waived through exam or receive credits through challenge exam.

(General Education Requirement Equivalent)

i. Requirements (39 Credits)


ii. Honors Leadership and Service (6 Credits)


iii. Honors Interdisciplinary Courses (12-15 Credits)


Honors students need to take three Honors electives courses plus produce a capstone thesis, for a total of four courses. Courses can be cross-listed in multiple subjects, and for both lower and upper division credit, as needed.

Total credits will vary depending on what program students are undertaking for their selected second major or pre-professional program

III. Electives (unspecified)


Number of elective credits will vary.  Minimum total credits required for graduation is 120.  Credits remaining after Major Core, and Honors College Track 1 or 2 requirements have been met will be the number of elective credits needed.
