This program is designed to develop individual musicianship and proficiency on a professional level of artistic accomplishment. Students are given instruction in practical as well as analytical theory, history and literature of music. They must also enroll in a second major or minor outside of the field of music.

Suggested combination of majors might include: music/theology, music/accounting, music/biology, music (honors), music/computer science, etc. Detailed schedules and information about such programs are available.

This program is also designed for those wishing to make music an avocation, who are entering pre-professional programs such as pre-medicine, pre-dental, pre-law, but desire a major in music. It is important to note that the Bachelor of Arts in Music major is primarily a liberal arts degree, not a performance degree.

Students wishing to pursue a degree emphasizing musical performance should seek the Bachelor of Music in Music Performance degree.

IV. Senior Project (4 Credits)

Upon applying for the Junior Recital, students in the Bachelor of Arts in Music shall concurrently submit a proposal for their Senior Project to begin the semester following successful completion of their Junior Recital.
Bachelor of Arts in Music students may choose ONE of FOUR project tracks as outlined below.

1) Senior Recital:

Student takes four additional credit hours in their applied area:

MUPI 344 - Applied Music Credits: 4

MUPF 400 - Senior Recital Credits: 0

2) Thesis:

Student enrolls in these courses culminating in a significant research paper:

3) Creative Project:

Student selects appropriate courses totaling four credits, upon the recommendation of advisor and permission of music faulty, leading to a capstone creative project.
