It is recommended that students obtain information from teh physician associate school they plan to attend for their specific admission requirements, as large variations exist in physician assistant’s pre-professional requirements.
Most physician associate programs require a bachelor’s degree along with specific courses. Therefore, pre-physician associate students are encouraged to consult on a regular basis with WAU’s pre-physician associate coordinators.
Acceptance into physician associate programs is highly competitive. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required, but in order to be competitive, and apply to physician associate programs, a GPA of 3.3 or higher is recommended.
Pre-physician associate students are typically required to build up work hours in the health care field while completing their pre-professional requirements to improve their ability to matriculate. The quantity and nature of the work experience varies, but a requirement of 800-2,500 work hours is typical for successful applicants.
