CHEM 151 - College Chemistry I Credits: 4 When Offered: Fall Prerequisite(s): MATH 120 (with “C” grade or higher), place into MATH 126 or higher on math placement test.
This is the foundation course for chemistry majors and minors. This semester covers the structure and bonding of matter, chemical reactions, stoichiometry, thermochemistry, electron configurations, Lewisdot structures, VSEPR theory, bonding theories, condensed phases and solution chemistry. There are four lecture periods and a lab period each week.
Note: First semester of a two-semester sequence. This course is a prerequisite to that of the second semester course. Credit may be received for the work of this course without the completion of the second.
