ACCT 301 - Intermediate Accounting I


Credits: 3
When Offered: Fall
Prerequisite(s): ACCT 212 , ENGL 101 , ENGL 102  and COMM 105  or ENGL 101H  and ENGL 102  with a minimum grade of “C.”

 
These courses are designed primarily for accounting majors – including those planning to sit for the CPA exam as well as finance majors. The course provides a comprehensive study of accounting theory and practice within the context of the conceptual framework of accounting, with special attention given to FASB Statements and Opinions related to measurement, recognition and reporting of assets, liabilities, equity, revenue and expenses and the major financial statements. Additional topics include pension accounting, leases and contingent liabilities. Computerized practice sets may be used at discretion of learning facilitator

Note: First semester of a two-semester sequence.  This course is a prerequisite to that of the second semester course (ACCT 302 ).  Credit may be received for the work of this course without the completion of the second.
