LEARNING OBJECTIVES FOR GRADUATE PROGRAMS

Based on Washington Adventist University’s mission, upon completion of their programs of study, students enrolled in SGPS graduate programs will demonstrate specific knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will enable them to become competent moral leaders.
Students will be able to:
COMPETENT
- Demonstrate advanced specialized knowledge of the chosen discipline, and explain the major theories and methodological approaches employed in the chosen discipline;
- Analyze, restructure, and evaluate principal ideas in the chosen discipline;
- Expand, refine, or evaluate the basis of information in the chosen discipline;
MORAL
- Integrate personal vocation into a holistic spiritual vision of life;
- Demonstrate evidence of appropriate ethical comportment in academic and vocational endeavors;
LEADERS
- Coherently and effectively communicate results of own research in two or more media for both general and expert audiences;
- Evaluate or create a reasoned position on a public policy issue related to the chosen discipline;
- Effectively design and implement a discipline-specific collaborative project in an out-of-class context.
