Professional Judgment refers to WAU’s authority to make adjustments, on a case-by-case basis, to information reported on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to recalculate a student’s Student Aid Index (SAI).
Schools use the SAI to determine if a student is eligible for need-based financial aid. WAU, however, does not have the authority to make direct adjustments to the SAI or to the formula used to calculate the SAI, just data elements on the FAFSA impacting the SAI.
