FEDERAL AID ELIGIBILITY
|
|
To receive federal financial aid, a student must:
- Be a citizen or an eligible noncitizen of the United States
- Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Work toward a degree or certificate
- Make satisfactory academic progress
- Not owe a refund on a federal grant or be in default on a federal loan
In addition:
- Students must register and maintain a minimum of 12 credit hours at WAU each semester to be eligible for most federal financial aid. Remedial courses may count toward the 12-hour requirement.
- Some federal financial aid is available to part-time students. Please contact the Financial Aid Office for additional information.
- Students in the Adventist Colleges Abroad program are eligible for federal financial aid through WAU after completing one academic year at WAU.
- Most financial aid is dependent upon financial need. The federal government utilizes a formula to analyze a student’s and their parents’ income and resources. After the calculation, the federal government determines the family’s Student Aid Index (SAI). The Financial Aid Office uses the SAI and other factors to determine each student’s financial aid package.
