The accounting major is designed to meet the needs of students preparing for accounting careers in business, government, not-for-profit organizations or public accounting. Included are students who desire to obtain, through state certification, the status of Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA).

CPA EXAM REQUIREMENT
For accounting majors who wish to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) examination in Maryland or any other state that requires 150 semester hours to sit for the examination, the following courses are recommended in addition to the 121 hours for the Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree. (Choose 22 hours that are not included in the 121 hours above): Additional Business Courses for CPA Exam (27 Credits)
